Every Venture runs a 5-speed manual gearbox to a rear-wheel-drive live axle — no automatic options fitted locally, no 4x4 variants. Used Venture gearboxes trade R4,000-R8,000 depending on mileage, synchro condition and bell-housing cleanliness. Clutch kits are a regular order — 25-year-old clutch components simply do not last indefinitely. New aftermarket clutch kits from the JHB depot run R1,800-R3,800; heavy-duty kits for loaded minibus duty are R2,800-R4,800. Differential failures are rare but expensive when they occur — used rear diff assemblies run R2,200-R4,800. Always swap rear oil seals at any diff job. Driveshaft replacements are occasional — used shafts R1,200-R2,400 tested.
