Used Hi-Ace gearboxes trade R5,000-R10,000 depending on engine variant and synchro condition. The 3L-diesel box behind a heavily-loaded taxi is the most worn donor category; 2Y petrol boxes from panel vans are typically the cleanest. Heavy-duty clutch kits rated for fleet duty run R2,200-R4,500 new aftermarket. Flywheels are usually reusable after a light skim — R350-R750 at a local engineering shop. Rear differentials are hardy on the Hi-Ace platform; used diff assemblies R2,800-R6,500 but failures are rare outside accident damage. Always swap rear oil seals when pulling a diff for any reason.
