Suspension for Toyota Hi-Ace

The Hi-Ace suspension is built for fleet abuse — torsion-bar front independent (H50) or double-wishbone with coil springs (H100), and a rear leaf-spring live axle across the full range. Our toyota hi-ace suspension parts range covers shock absorbers, front torsion bars, coil springs, rear leaf-spring packs, ball joints, tie-rod ends, control-arm bushings and sway bar links. Rear leaf springs are the highest-volume consumable — taxi and panel-van operators ran these vehicles loaded for years, and the leaf packs eventually sag past serviceable ride height.

New aftermarket heavy-duty leaf-spring packs for the H100 Hi-Ace run R2,800-R5,500 per side from the JHB depot. Used OEM packs from CPT-dismantled donors at R1,200-R2,400 per side — inspected for cracks at the eye and droop tested against reference dimensions. Always replace both sides together on a Hi-Ace to keep ride height and load distribution even. Front shocks run R400-R900 per side new aftermarket; used OEM R180-R450 per side. Tie-rod ends and ball joints are cheap consumables that fail predictably at 100,000-180,000 km intervals.

Suspension for Toyota Hi-Ace — Frequently Asked

Do you stock rear leaf springs for the Hi-Ace H100?

Yes — rear leaf-spring packs are one of our highest-volume Hi-Ace items. New aftermarket heavy-duty packs run R2,800-R5,500 per side from the JHB depot. Used OEM packs from CPT donors at R1,200-R2,400 per side, tested for droop and inspected for cracks. Always fit pairs, and budget new U-bolts and shackle bushings at installation — cheap consumables that prevent repeat labour.

How much are Hi-Ace shock absorbers in SA?

Front shocks run R400-R900 per side new aftermarket; rear shocks R350-R750 per side. Used OEM front shocks from CPT donors at R180-R450 per side, tested for damping loss. Replace in axle pairs — front pair or rear pair — never singly. Fleet-duty uprated shocks are available on request for operators still running Hi-Ace panel vans in daily service.

Are Hi-Ace ball joints and tie-rod ends available?

Yes. Lower ball joints and tie-rod ends for the H50 and H100 Hi-Ace are in regular stock. New aftermarket ball joints R280-R550 each; tie-rod ends R180-R420 each. Used OEM units from CPT donors at roughly half those prices. Ball-joint failure typically shows up as clunking over speed bumps and uneven outer-edge tyre wear — replace in pairs and budget a wheel alignment afterwards.
