Suspension for Toyota Dyna

Dyna toyota dyna suspension stock is weighted heavily towards leaf springs rather than coil setups — the Dyna is a working truck, and every generation runs leaf-sprung rear axles (and in most variants, leaf-sprung front axles too). We carry heavy-duty rear leaf packs, front leaf springs, shackles, U-bolts and bump-stops across the 4-series, 6-series and 7-series. Sagged or broken leaves are the single most common suspension complaint from overloaded fleet operators, and we keep fresh leaf packs and individual leaves at the JHB depot for same-day courier.

Shock absorbers for Dyna trucks are heavy-duty units rated for commercial load cycles, not passenger-car tune. We stock new aftermarket shocks (R900-R2,400 per unit depending on series) and used OEM pulls from CPT donors. Torque-rod bushings, spring-eye bushings and shackle pins are cheap consumables that get abused on building-site and farm-road work — all held as standard stock. If the truck is tracking poorly or eating front tyres, check the torque rods and kingpins first; both are available used and new for every SA-market Dyna generation.

Suspension for Toyota Dyna — Frequently Asked

How much is a new Dyna leaf spring pack?

Heavy-duty rear leaf packs for the Dyna 4-series run R2,800-R4,500 per side new aftermarket. The 6-series and 7-series packs are larger and sit R3,500-R6,500 per side. We do not recommend adding leaves to a sagged pack — the correct fix is a fresh assembly. Used OEM packs from CPT-dismantled donors are cheaper (R1,200-R2,800) but we inspect each leaf for cracking before sale.

Do you stock Dyna front shock absorbers?

Yes. Front shocks for the leaf-sprung Dyna are heavy-duty commercial units — not interchangeable with passenger-car or bakkie shocks. New aftermarket pricing runs R900-R2,400 per unit depending on truck series. Always replace in pairs across an axle. Used OEM shocks are available but we only dispatch units that still hold damping pressure when bench-tested.

Can I fit air suspension to a Dyna?

Aftermarket air-suspension conversions exist for the rear axle of the Dyna 6-series and 7-series, favoured by closed-body and refrigerated operators who carry variable loads. We do not stock the conversion kits ourselves but can supply the air bags, leveller valves and compressor units separately. Discuss the setup with a truck-body builder before ordering parts — fitment varies by body type.
