The Cressida fuel system split at the 22R/22R-E transition: carburetors on earlier cars and the base 22R, EFI from the 22R-E onward, and sequential multi-point injection on the 7M-GE. The Aisan two-barrel carburetor on the 18R-C and 21R-C engines is the most-asked-for service item — original carbs are tired, and a full rebuild kit (gaskets, diaphragms, needle and seat) runs R850-R2,200. Reconditioned carbs on exchange are available intermittently at R3,500-R6,500. Fuel injectors for the 22R-E and 7M-GE are flow-tested before sale, matched in sets of four or six respectively, and come with fresh seal kits. Steel fuel tanks on earlier cars commonly rust from the outside in — we stock clean donor-pull tanks at R1,800-R3,500.

Can I rebuild the original Cressida carburetor?

Yes. Aisan two-barrel rebuild kits covering gaskets, diaphragms, needle-and-seat and accelerator pump components are still produced for the 18R-C, 21R-C and 22R. Expect R850-R2,200 for a full kit through the JHB depot. If the carb body itself is worn (throttle shaft slop, warped baseplate), swap for a reconditioned core at R3,500-R6,500 — we stock both paths.

Do you stock 7M-GE fuel injectors?

Yes. Sets of six matched 7M-GE injectors, flow-tested on a bench before sale, typically run R3,500-R7,500 depending on whether they are original Denso units or OEM-equivalent replacements. We supply with fresh O-rings and insulators — never reuse the old seals. Budget for a fuel filter and rail clean at the same job to avoid reclogging new injectors.

Are Cressida fuel tanks still available?

New aftermarket tanks are not produced. Used OEM tanks from CPT-dismantled donors are the only route — R1,800-R3,500 depending on generation and internal rust condition. We pressure-test every tank and flush before dispatch. If your existing tank is rust-pitted on the inside, a tank restoration chemical treatment (R850-R1,400 in a kit) may save buying a replacement.
